Glitter Guilty Box Review February 2014

It is here! Glitter Guilty is a nail polish subscription box. It includes a mini nail polish, and a full size polish, as well as a yummy sweet or two. I have so many things I have been ordering online, my bad when I got this box I thought it was something else and was pleasantly surprised and happy. This is my favorite Glitter Guilty Box, I really like the colors and they are very Valentinesy. Yes it is a word.

My Full Size polish is Peacock Party, I really like this one. I absolutely love purple and blue that is my ultimate favorite color combination. I put it on as soon as I got my box. The picture here doesn’t really capture the blue flakes that well. When you apply the polish a lot of glitter comes out, so it definitely takes some fishing. But is a really cool glitter polish. There are many different shaped and sized glitter. This is fun.

This mini is called Cupid’s Crossbow, I really like this mini too, Pretty pink glittery-ness! This polish looks fun I like that there is white glitter in it as well as a few shades of pink. This nail polish looks even better when it’s on.

Where’s the chocolate picture? Yea I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture, I fail. :p Anyway that’s my box, I love the colors I got this month. 🙂

Birchbox Versus Ipsy Bag Face Off January 2014

This month both my Ipsy Bag and Birchbox arrived on the same day so I decided to do a Face-off between the two for the month of January. They are after all similar. Both Birchbox and Ipsy are beauty subscription’s costing $10.00 a month that include, samples as well as some full-sized products.  First Let’s start with Birchbox.

I always love the box presentation with Birchbox, I think they do a splendid job in that arena. Also I love how the boxes are always themed and include a card with what products are included and what they are used for. Anyway this month’s box was heavier than it usually is, which is always a good sign.

My first product are these unfortunate packaged samples.

100% Pure Nourishing Body Cream 3 samples (.067 fl oz each), Full Size: $15.00

I really hate samples like this, they are small  and sure there are 3 but I don’t feel like they should even count. Also they are in condiment sample packets. It looks like Ketchup.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle  Deluxe Sample, Full Size: $21.95

I feel like I get this kind of stuff all the time. But I do like these sorts of products, it’s just I am kind of backed up. I would of preferred something else, but I have heard good things about this product.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish  Hot Cloth Cleanser Starter Kit Deluxe Sample (1 oz & muslin cloth), Full Size:$24.50

I really like this, it is the highlight of my box! It was the item that made my box kind of heavy. I started using it last night and then used it this morning. I really do need to take better care of my skin while I am young! My skin feels so soft even after a 10 hour work day. I will be buying this when I run out.

Ruby Wing Color Changing Nail Polish Mini in Kitten Heels (7 ml), Full Size (15ml): $10.00

Nail Polish! I have an addiction my collection keeps getting bigger and I like this one. The light didn’t capture how bold this fuchsia nail polish is. Also it changes colors, it turns a red color. Super Cool!

Ahmad Teas Assorted Teas (Sample Size, 3 teabags), Full Size: $7.00

More tea! It will go away fast. I’ve never had this brand and it’s from London. I’m intrigued, yes it’s stereotypical to say hey its english and it’s tea so it has to be good, but we will see. The Peach and Passion Fruit one I am looking forward to.

The box also included these cool cards with sayings on them. The back of them have tips for Confidence, ways to get happier, etc. They are pretty and I already put them on my walls in my cubicle at work to keep me happy and positive.

Now on to Ipsy!

I always love how Ipsy includes so much value in their bags. Also it always includes a bag.

There is the bag…

I will be honest this is my first bag that I don’t like. It’s just a little cheapy compared to November and December, but who buys Ipsy for the bag? You can only have so many makeup bags right?

Proactive Mark Fading Pads  Sample Size (4 packets)

What is this, small samples? Gah Ipsy went the same route as Birchbox and gave multiple small sample packs. I am not a huge Proactive fan. It just never worked for me. I will use them of course..and very quickly. I used one last night, it burned a little.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask ( 1 fl oz Sample Size)Full Size: $26.00

Here is my favorite product in the Ipsy bag. I already used it last night. First of all it smells AMAZING, and my ends of my hair felt so silky afterword. I like it. 🙂 I wish I had more, I might have to purchase it.

Nourish Organic Face Lotion (Sample Size .5 oz) Full Size: $21.99

Who doesn’t like some moisturizer? It has shea butter, rosewater, and Moroccan Argan oil sounds awesome. 🙂

Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil in Pearl (Sample Size), Full Size:$14.99

I do use Nyx jumbo pencils all the time, but I am not partial to creamy shadows because it usually creases. But I will try it,  love the color.

Tinted Lip Balm Mica Beauty Cosmetics in Fiesta (Sample Size), Full Size: $30.00

It is a very pretty shade, I am intrigued by it. First of all the price tag is 30 dollars for a full size, expensive much? I am sure this will be my first and last Mica lip balm.

So that was my Birchbox and my Ipsy Bag which one do you think won this month? It’s tough, I will say that this was my least favorite Ipsy I have received (but I hold Ipsy to a high standard). I hold it to a higher standard because I was spoiled with November & December, they were AMAZING. So many full-sized products, exceptional value.  This one was so-so. Birchbox I liked this month more than usual. Mainly because of the Liz Earle Cleanser, and nail polish. I will give it to Birchbox this month! I declare them winner, however it was close. Anyway what do you think? I have 20 dollars worth of Birchbox points now! 🙂 What shall I buy..

Barkbox December 2013 Review

Barkbox time!  For those who don’t know Barkbox is a monthly subscription to dog toys and treats, because who shouldn’t spoil their dog with their own subscription box right? The price monthly varies if you purchase the 6 month subscription it is $19.99 per month, if you purchase the 3 month package it is $24 dollars a month, and if you do month to month it is $29.99. My 6 month subscription was to renew December but due to lack of funds I can’t commit to the 6 months. I was about to cancel when barkbox said “are you sure we will take 10 dollars off your box?” and so I said to myself I will at least get him the December box for $19.99. The rest of the year is still hanging in the balance. I might have to stop for a little bit. Anyway Barkbox arrived early, but I dilly-dallied posting this because I made it one or Rangers Christmas Presents. This box was very treat heavy again, I have so much backstock right now of treats! It is crazy.

Jax & Bones Penguin Rope Toy $14.00

This toy is so cute and it is sturdy and will last awhile since it is made with rope. Check out their website, they have so many other cute rope animal toys. Ranger is a toyaholic, he is like a little child and loves playing with them all. He has a basket filled with his toys and often I see him digging his nose in it, and I sometimes will find him asleep with all his toys surrounding him. Little goofball.

Superior Farms Pet Provisions Lamb Toasters 3oz $8.99

I have received products from Superior Farms in the past. I love their treats because they have great ingredients. I mean there is lamb in this treat how often do I give Ranger lamb treats? Never. I like that there is variety.

Plato Turkey with Cranberry Treats 4oz Bag $6.00

Plato treats are very festive this time. It’s like my dog is getting a holiday feast. I have so much Plato treats right now in back-stock from other barkboxes. Not that I don’t feed Ranger this stuff, it’s just he has so many treats right now.

Wet Noses Peanut Butter Biscuit $1.79

Haven’t given him this yet, but it is a great sized biscuit and I know he will eat it all up.

Barkworthies Beef Bladder $5.25

As soon as I saw this item I knew it would be gone in a heartbeat. He grabbed it immediately and chewed on it for maybe 30 minutes and it was gone. I love Barkworthies! It seems to be often in his boxes and that is just fine with me!

Overall i am very happy with my box, and I am not sure if I should discontinue. I am short on funds so I can’t commit to 6 more months and he does have so many treats and toys right now. However I do enjoy getting that monthly present for my puppy. This is also my very first subscription I started with. I might have to come back to barkbox when I am able to re-commit. So this could be my last barkbox review for a little while.  :/

Ipsy Bag December 2013 Review

Ipsy arrived, yay! Ipsy impressed me last month so this is definitely the highlight of my subscriptions this month. Ipsy is a subscription of beauty products, and it costs $10 dollars a month. Ipsy has become incredibly popular due to the fact each bag includes a lot of value! It’s not a box of mostly samples, it includes full sized products and deluxe samples. This box had all full-sized products.

This months theme is Celebration! I love it. One thing I wish Ipsy would do is list the products in my bag, like Birchbox does. I know I can look it up on Ipsy’s website but it’s handy having it all there, so you know what you have right when you open the box.

I was really impressed with this months bag, isn’t it so pretty? It has lined red in the inside, I love this glam bag and I am definitely keep it.

POP Beauty Bright Up Your Life Eye Shadow Trio (Naturally Bare) $ 6.00

I got the perfect colors for me! 🙂 I am pleased with these shadows very much. I do however have lots and lots of eyeshadow, but I don’t care. 🙂 It’s not too big, and I have never used POP so I am happy with new products to me.

NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick (Fusion) $4.00

I love NYX, I do I especially like their jumbo pencils. 🙂 But this is my one item I feel meh about. I am just not a lipstick person. The color is very bold, so perhaps this will be given away.

Nicka K New York Nail Color Taupe (Classic Taupe)  $4.99

I really like the bottle of this nail polish, I think I prefer the bottle more than the actual nail polish color. I have never worn a Taupe polish and it just doesn’t feel like me. So I might give it away, but who knows I might wear it. I have been developing a nail polish addiction and this is a new brand to me. 🙂 So we shall see.

Be a Bombshell One stick (Flustered)  $16.00

This is my favorite one! I really like Be a Bombshell brand. It is a good product for sure. One stick is a 3 in 1 product, it is a shadow, a cheek tint, and lips. This color is pretty bold (why does Ipsy always give me the bold products?) But I used it and I actually really like it. This product will go into my rotation immediately!

Mirabella Eye Blender Brush $27.00

This brush I almost missed because it was loose in the pink mailer ( it is a tad bit big for the bag). When I picked up I realized the handle has some serious weight which I like. I am weird and rarely use make up brushes ( I always use my fingers). I really like this brush, I would never spend the $27 dollars on a brush but it seems like it is definitely quality.

So that was my bag, once totaled it has a value of $58 dollars. 🙂 Ipsy you always make me happy, every item was full sized. I don’t know how they do it, but keep it coming Ipsy!

Glitter Guilty December 2013 Box Review

Image My Glitter Guilty Box came Saturday! 🙂 My first ever Glitter Guilty box, and my first subscription of the month ( I skipped Julep this month). I actually forgot about this and I was pleasantly surprised to see it on my doorstop. It came very fast! Glitter Guilty is a nail polish subscription that includes a full size nail polish, a mini nail polish and a yummy snack for $15.99. First of all the presentation is adorable! So cute the box wasn’t just thrown together like some boxes can be. I like the scrunched brown paper, and the little tags with the nail polish color names written on. Very cute and personal. IMG_3082

Yum Yum Yum, It’s blueberry cheesecake flavored popcorn! I haven’t had it but looks delicious. Also it is festive for the christmas time. I always remember having those giant popcorn tins with different flavored popcorns. 🙂

IMG_3077 IMG_3078

The Full size nail polish is Northern Lights. I love it! There is little tiny silver glitter flakes, then some medium and large sized blue and green glitters. I really like this color. It can be worn by it’s self or as a topper I prefer it as a topper.

IMG_3087 IMG_3090

My ring finger has Julep’s Dianna  and Northern Light as a topper. I love it so pretty! You can’t really see the silver mini flakes but they are there. My index finger has Northern Lights by it’s self. I really like the colors & glitters! The application is really nice too.

IMG_3079 IMG_3080

Here is my mini! It’s so cute and little! Pine Cones & Holly Berries is it’s name. It’s very fall-like. The base is clear, and I think wears best as a topper. It has different sized glitters in shades of gold, red, maroon, pink. It could look so pretty with many different colors underneath.

IMG_3093 IMG_3094

First picture is my nail with just the Pinecones & Holly Berries. Lots of glitter comes out for sure! The second one is with Julep’s Sienna, and Pinecones & Holly Berries.  I love my colors I got!

I am very happy with my box, I love it! So happy I found Glitter Guilty! If you’re thinking about breaking into the indie polish realm and love glitter you should  definitely try it. If you decide to get a subscription I’d love it if you type in Amanda Dixon in the referral section I’d really appreciate it! 🙂

BarkBox November 2013 Review

My Barkbox came! Always an exciting day when barkbox comes. My dog freaks out whenever any box comes now because he thinks each one has goodies for him. This one smelt great to him apparently; he attacked the box!

image (24) image (25)

This one is all about the goodies, it is after all the month for Thanksgiving! So my photos are a little less quality because I had to take them fast because he wanted  that toy and treats!

image (26) image (27)

PetSafe Toy Pogo Plush Dog Toy $ 12.52

I wasn’t able to get a picture of the toy in it’s packaging because he took this toy right away. Never can have enough of these types of toys. It’s stuffing-less and very durable. Just the way want it! He has too many toys so I had to throw some old ragged ones after this. He likes it, naturally. 🙂

image (29)

Twistex Treats Vanilla Mint $ 7.13

I was happy to get these because I use Greenies typically, but they are so pricey so I haven’t bought any in awhile, so it’s nice to get these. I gave one to ranger right away, I wouldn’t say he loved it. he sniffed it forever but he did eat it. So we will see how he feels about the next one I give him.

image (30)

Bocce’s Bakery Truffle Mac & Cheese $ 9.50

Fancy treats. 🙂 He likes these, this isn’t the first treats he got from Bocce’s. So he will be happy with these.

image (31)

Nootie YumZies Duck Jerky Chews $15.50

He loves duck treats! We received duck treats in August box and he ate those all up! He loves these things!

I love Barkbox, my 6 months subscription is over, but I am renewing. It’s nice getting treats for my dog monthly. I find new brands I would never hear of otherwise. I like how products are usually made in USA and they use quality ingredients. The whole thing is awesome. I am racking up a tonnnnn of treats though. 🙂 Maybe next month..less treats? I am sure it will be cute and festive. 🙂

Birchbox November 2013 Review

My Birchbox arrived! It actually arrived a little bit earlier this week but I’ve been busy so I am a little late! Anyway I’m always excited for my Birchbox. I seem to get all my boxes right in the same week, so it’s a week of goodness. 🙂 My box of course came as pretty as always. Lots of envelopes with stuff inside. My perspective with Birchbox has changed a little now that I have Ipsy as well. So for those who don’t know Birchbox is a monthly subscription of beauty samples, it costs $10.00 including shipping. To me the true value is in their points system. More on that later. So on to the goodies!

image (9) image (13)

image (15)

Color Club Nail Color in Baldwin Blues $ 8.00

It’s actually a really pretty shade of blue. I am tempted to use it, but I have so much nail polish now. So perhaps I will give it away. Makes a good stocking stuffer.

image (19)

DDF Amplifying Elixir Sample .5 Fluid Ounces  $? Full size: $70.00

I appreciate products for my face because I honestly never do much in the night or in the morning. I know I am bad! But I am trying to change, so more samples of products like this the better. We will see how this stuff works out.

image (18)

Joie Folle de Joie eau de parfum – 2 ml Value $1.70 Full Size: $98.00

This stuff smells so good! gah I love it. I was kind of meh when I first sprayed it on my wrist, but with time I kept smelling it and fell in love. Why must it cost 98 dollars for a bottle?!

image (23) image (22)

Mox Botanicals Bath Milk .35 oz sample $? Full Size: $ 12.00

I wish I had a big bath tub to soak in this. 🙂 It smells nice and they are a company from Portland. My land! Looking forward to using this

image (20)

theBalm Cosmetics Stainiac – sample $? Full Size: $17.00

It’s been a really long time since I’ve used a product similar to this. It is a nice products just adds some color to your lips. It’s not crazy vibrant red or anything which I like.

image (21)

Might Leaf Tea– 3 tea Pouches $? Full Size: $9.95

I love tea! I have been using this in the mornings at work. I may have tried this tea once before just because I remember the elegant tea bags. Vanilla Bean is yummy.

That was my box this month! Overall it was decent, not my favorite birchbox I have received. Also this was the first month of Ipsy and since both are 10 dollar subscriptions I can’t help but compare the two. They are quite different, I am not sure how Ipsy can do these awesome full sized products but I am loving it! Birchbox on the other hand gives these much smaller (mostly sample sized products).   I think Birchbox has an awesome rewards system! I get 10 points for each review I do of a product I am given. So this month I earned 60 points just for this box, that is equivalent to 6 dollars. When you earn 100 points I have 10 dollars to spend in the birchbox store. It is a great value! So I am loving that! So birchbox is still a great deal and I love it.
