Rainbow Honey Nail Polish Mystery Bag

Image

I recently found Rainbow Honey nail polish through some people in the julep swap group I am apart of. They were talking about a mystery bag for only $10.00, also they had a coupon for 5 dollars off. I thought this would be a great opportunity to try out their products. Including shipping the price of the bag was $8.25, which was a pretty awesome price. My first impression is Rainbow Honey is a pretty sophisticated Indie polish. The polishes are labeled nicely, and I really like presentation. I got several products in my mystery bag, so let’s talk about what I got.

Image

Image

The first polish I got was Sparkling Agave it was a mini. I like the bottles, they are so cute. I really like the color I got. It’s so pretty, I love the color and it has a nice shimmer.

Image

I also got Puffin Party in a mini. I think the name is right, it definitely looks like a party. Not sure if this is my style though, but I don’t know till I try it!

Image

I should of put a penny next to it because it is itty bitty! It is a perfume with rollerball. The smell is really not me. Maybe it would make a cute gift with other items.

Image

Top coat mini! You can never have enough top coat.

Image

And a sparkle glittery pot! There is quite a bit of glitter in it. 🙂 I never use loose glitter maybe I should start using loose glitter.

My Julep Haul

Image

Here is my haul! I recently did a Valentines swap and the girl I swapped with gave me a %50 off entire purchase  with Julep in my swap box. So I had to use it! What a steal, when do you ever get 50% off an entire purchase anywhere? I would of got more…but I have been more reckless with nail polish spending. So here’s what I got !

Image

Mind Your Mani $75.00

I purchased the Mind Your Mani kit, I had to do it because it was already on sale for $39.99, with 50% off it is only $ 19.99. And for 20 bucks you get 3 nail masks (which are amazeballs), I am pretty sure I am going to use a pack tomorrow! Then you get a Might Nail & Cuticle Serum ( I have a mini version right now but extra never hurts). Freedom Top Coat, and Oxygen Nail treatment. All of these items in this kit I currently own, but having back ups is nice. I am not crazy about Julep’s top coat ( it gets wayy too goopy after awhile). But I absolutely love julep’s oxygen! Anyway what a steal.

Julep Eye Sheen in Warm Fig Shimmer $ 18.00

I didn’t purchase a box for February this month, initially I wasn’t excited by the eyeshadow included nor was I wowed by the color choices. But after I saw people posting about how much they liked these liquid shadows (that lasted hours) I had to purchase. I never use liquid shadow but these colors looked so pretty when swatched. This one is Warm Fig Shimmer. I wore it today, it is a very warm color. The wear wasn’t amazing, since it did start to crease but it’s nothing a little primer won’t help.

Image

Image

Julep Eye Sheen in Dusty Taupe Shimmer $18.00

I also bought Dusty Taupe Liquid shadow, I haven’t used this one but I am looking forward to it.  One thing I didn’t convey from these pictures is..holy crap are they tiny! I should of put a penny so you could see the size to scale. They are little, but I think  a little might go a long ways. 🙂 We shall see!

Image

 Julep Color in Max $14.00

I somehow missed this polish and I have been wanting a polish with black and white glitter This is a topper polish, I am looking forward to using it, especially with a white or black polish. I am just hoping it isn’t goopy, I keep having this issue with different Julep glitters I own.

Image

Julep Color in Jane $14.00

Inspired by Jane the CEO and Founder of Julep. This one I kept hearing great things about and I kept seeing gorgeous swatches of. Also I am a big fan of rose gold. Can’t wait to use it.

Image

Julep Surprise Color Rush Lip Gloss $20.00

This is another new item Julep released. It is supposed to work for everyone and suit every type. The color in swatches looked gorgeous. So hopefully I like it.

Image

Blank Canvas Lip Primer $ 22.00

This I did not order, but it showed up instead of the Blank Canvas Face Primer I wanted. :/ I am not sure if I am going to use this. I have heard bad things from so many different mavens. It is just not my thing, primer for my lips..why?  But Julep did let me keep this for free since there was a mix up. I might just swap it or sell it.

Image

Blank Canvas Mattifying Face Primer $ 28.00

I’m bummed this wasn’t in my order because it was one of the top things I wanted to use! I never use primer (yes it’s awful) but I really need to start! This product has awesome reviews too! I called Julep ASAP as soon as I realized I was given the wrong product. There was practically no wait time. Mary the rep was helpful and I got an email later that day saying the order has been processed.

Anyway that is my haul! So thankful for the 50% off coupon, I only spent 64 dollars on everything! The best! 🙂 Thanks Julep!

Snowed In

Greetings from Snowy Portland! This is my first year living here and I know that the winter weather we have been having is not the typical, but I am enjoying it. I live in a very hilly area and don’t have 4WD so I have been snowed in like much of the population. There are only so many things I can do right?

Well I can play out in the snow with my super cute Sorels.

Play with my Puppy (who LOVES the SNOW).

Watch the snow accumulate.

Finally get around to making that Loaded Baked Potato Chowder you kept hearing about in Pinterest and Facebook.

Lounge around and watch movies I’ve never seen. Ranger knows how to do it.

Do some unnecessary nail polish shopping online. :/ 🙂

Watch youtube nail art tutorials and attempt my own creations.

Not Sure what else I am going to be doing..I feel like I am running out of things to do. :/

Glitter Guilty Box January 2014 Review

Image

My box arrived!  Glitter Guilty is a nail polish subscription that includes a full size nail polish, a mini nail polish and a yummy snack for $15.99. This month’s box was inspired by the winter vortex much of the country has been having. I was hungry when I opened this box because I was immediately drawn to the chocolate covered fortune cookie. YUM.

Image

Image

Why have I never thought of that? Chocolate covered Fortune Cookies are delicious!

Image

Image

Image

Image

I haven’t tried either of these nail polishes yet ( I am really liking my current mani. 🙂 I’m not crazy about the fact that they are both blue, but we will see

Image

I was really thrilled that there was striping tape in my box! I actually just ordered some, but when you order it via amazon it is shipping from Japan so it could take over a month to get here. So I am super happy I have some because I have been wanting to try using striping tape to do some mani’s. I have been addict-idly  watching striping tape tutorials on youtube.

So that was my box this month. How do you think it was? I am looking forward to the February box for sure, maybe a valentines box? That would be awesome. 🙂

Julep Maven Review January 2014

Image

I was really excited when the January window opened up for Julep Maven. For those who don’t know Julep Maven is a nail polish and beauty subscription. Each month 21st- 24th we get to see the 5 box choices that cost $19.99. If you don’t like any of the boxes you can skip the month. If you love the whole collection you can upgrade, they offer various upgrades. I decided to upgrade to the Boudoir Collection which is an additional $35 on top of the $19.99 because I liked all the colors and finishes so much as well as the products.

I have a little story about the delivery because the pictures I have of the box might look a little tattered. So I went to USPS’s website and it said it was delivered however it was not at my door. I was ready to go to all the apartments near mine to find it, but first I was going to check my mailbox. My mailbox is so small so I didn’t think I would find it there (however they have done it before). But of course there it was, its like impossible to get the box out without damaging it. I guess the side where they put the mail in is bigger than the side where I take it out. I had to take a knife and scissors to my box, I wasn’t pleased. I tried to hide it in the photos. I left a note for my mailman. Next time I will have to just contact my post office.

Image

Look at all my pretties! I love them, and many of them have awesome finishes. The boxes are new too, no longer the black boxes with white writing. I really like the new boxes. I do have a stash of boxes I keep and reuse as gifts so I am sad this one is damaged from me prying it out of my mailbox.

Julep Nail Color in Hannah $14

Julep Nail Color in Abigail $14

Julep Nail Color in  Mae $14

Hannah was one that I was instantly very interested in, I love all shades of green. So I’m looking forward to putting this one on. Abigail is very pretty in person, better than the swatches on juleps blog lets on. I love purples and Mae is a very light shade of purple. It has a satin finish, I just hope this color isn’t too light for my skin so we shall see.

Image

Julep Nail Color in Margot $14

Julep Nail Color in Mona$14

Julep Nail Color in  Noelle $14

I almost put on Margot because she looked so pretty when I swatched her. I think she will be my next mani for sure. The gold color looks unique compared to other golds I have. Love it. Noelle reminds me of Farrah, but in a different color because it has that same awesome shimmer and has a silk finish. I really like this one, will be wearing it shortly. Mona looks very dark in person, it almost looks black (which I am not crazy about) but I will test this one out.

Image

Julep Nail Color in Annemarie $14

Julep Nail Color in Hope $14

Julep Nail Color in Farrah $14

I love Farrah! I am wearing her right now I had to put her on right away. She has a lovely shimmer and a silky soft finish. ❤ She is very elegant, and so far hasn’t chipped! I always have that issue when I don’t use topcoat. I’m not so crazy about Annemarie, not sure if I will swap her or what. And Hope is a white with a satin finish. I am excited by two of these three.

Image

Julep Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover $18.00

I was really happy that this months beauty product is nail related! I have never used a similar product so I am excited to try it. I am not one of those people who obsess over their cuticles, but if there is a product to improve mine sure I want to use it.

Image

Julep Ta Da Quick Dry Drops $14.00

I’m glad I held off on purchasing these because I have been tempted over my time as a maven member and now it is included in a box. I love painting my nails, but I have this problem with sitting still after I paint my nails and then I smudge them, or ruin them and I hate that. I used this when I did my nails in Farrah and it worked like a charm. It does have an odd smell, it isn’t bad and it isn’t good. It kind of reminded me of Jennifer Lawrence in American Hustle. She shows off her nail polish topcoat and says it smells like flowers and like garbage together. Not sure if it it smells like garbage but it is kind of a weird smell.

Image

Here is a picture of my nails, I feel like the photo didn’t really pick up on Farrah’s purple tinge but it definitely does have a purple shimmer. Love January’s box! I don’t have enough hands for all these polishes. Gosh I remember thinking when I signed up for Julep I thought I’d be skipping a lot because I thought you only need 10 to 15 nail polish colors. I surely was wrong! Thank you Julep I am a nail polish addict now.

That is what I received this month. Love it? Pretty awesome month to me. I am so excited to play with all my pretties.

Glitter Guilty December 2013 Box Review

Image My Glitter Guilty Box came Saturday! 🙂 My first ever Glitter Guilty box, and my first subscription of the month ( I skipped Julep this month). I actually forgot about this and I was pleasantly surprised to see it on my doorstop. It came very fast! Glitter Guilty is a nail polish subscription that includes a full size nail polish, a mini nail polish and a yummy snack for $15.99. First of all the presentation is adorable! So cute the box wasn’t just thrown together like some boxes can be. I like the scrunched brown paper, and the little tags with the nail polish color names written on. Very cute and personal. IMG_3082

Yum Yum Yum, It’s blueberry cheesecake flavored popcorn! I haven’t had it but looks delicious. Also it is festive for the christmas time. I always remember having those giant popcorn tins with different flavored popcorns. 🙂

IMG_3077 IMG_3078

The Full size nail polish is Northern Lights. I love it! There is little tiny silver glitter flakes, then some medium and large sized blue and green glitters. I really like this color. It can be worn by it’s self or as a topper I prefer it as a topper.

IMG_3087 IMG_3090

My ring finger has Julep’s Dianna  and Northern Light as a topper. I love it so pretty! You can’t really see the silver mini flakes but they are there. My index finger has Northern Lights by it’s self. I really like the colors & glitters! The application is really nice too.

IMG_3079 IMG_3080

Here is my mini! It’s so cute and little! Pine Cones & Holly Berries is it’s name. It’s very fall-like. The base is clear, and I think wears best as a topper. It has different sized glitters in shades of gold, red, maroon, pink. It could look so pretty with many different colors underneath.

IMG_3093 IMG_3094

First picture is my nail with just the Pinecones & Holly Berries. Lots of glitter comes out for sure! The second one is with Julep’s Sienna, and Pinecones & Holly Berries.  I love my colors I got!

I am very happy with my box, I love it! So happy I found Glitter Guilty! If you’re thinking about breaking into the indie polish realm and love glitter you should  definitely try it. If you decide to get a subscription I’d love it if you type in Amanda Dixon in the referral section I’d really appreciate it! 🙂

Julep ZigZag Ultimate with Mystery Add On Review

securedownload

My box came! YAY! I love mysteries, but I will admit I did peak on some spoilers. :p I try not to watch my package tracking, but I end up doing it and I get all anxious for it especially since DHL never seems to update their tracking information. When I came home from work I saw a big Julep package biggest I have seen. It was a little deceiving which I assumed because it was such a big box. Over half of the box was stuffing. But the box was definitely heavier than my last mystery box. Here it is.

securedownload securedownload

It is very beauty product heavy. I would be more excited if it was more nail polish heavy like the Galaxy Box, but still I am new to Julep so I haven’t tried really any of these products. So it is still exciting to try these new products to me. Some of these items I even debated purchasing in the secret store this month. At least My Add-On’s gave me some more nail polishes!

Sugar Smooch Lip Scrub $14.00

Julep Nail Color in Zora $14.00

Julep Nail Color in Karen $14.00

I really like Karen in this set, not crazy about Zora . Karen has a really nice shimmer. I am not a huge fan of creams and this one is very white-like…so ehh.  I might give this one away. I do like the lip scrub its yummy cocunuty! And really does work, my lips feel so good when I put it on.

DoubleStep Foot Treatment and Friction Stick  $22.00

Products for my feet? Yes ma’am. My feet are so dry and get damaged. I love shea butter, so I will be looking forward to using this.

securedownload

Beach Tonic Dry Body Oil  $23.00

This seems like a good product (in the summer), it says it isn’t oily which is good and it smells nice. This I feel like doesn’t really apply to me right now. I live in Oregon it is getting cold now with lots of rain!  This is a summer product so it kind of bums me out I got this. I will use it though my legs always get so dry.

securedownload

Sea Salt Texture Spray $22.00

Another summer item. I have heard great things about this though and I will be using it!  It is supposed to add texture & volumize your hair. I love products like this. I am open to try more!

Julep Essential Cuticle Oil $18.00

I recently received some cuticle oil I have been using. My cuticles aren’t the best so it’s nice to have more to take care of them.

Freedom Polymer Top Coat $18.00

I love this topcoat because it is different then other top coats. My nails feel stronger with it on, it has a high gloss and I will be using this every time now!  I only wish it came in a bigger bottle. This is something I have been wanting since signing up for Julep, but I did not feel like spending $18.00 dollars. Plus I assumed eventually it would be available in the secret store but this is better!

Julep Nail Color in Lois $14.00

Julep Nail Color in Amy $14.00

Julep Nail Color in Sienna  $14.00

I just don’t really like pink, especially a light pink so I am not so sure about it. I do like Amy , it is a very nice shade of blue, this will be used soon! I also received Sienna,  it is a pretty metallic gold-ish color. One thing that is bothering me is how not all nail polishes include the swatch me sticker on top. I’d just purchase them, but they are always sold out. Now of course since they Halloween color sets came out they had it as an add on. I have ordered a lot lately so I am going to wait & hopefully snag this later. I might regret this decision if it sells out again.

ZigZag Julep Stickers $??

How did I almost forget about the Main attraction ZigZag stickers. yay!

securedownload

You may have noticed my nails, it is my first try at gradient and it went pretty well! My inspiration was the fall leaves. I used Nan and Dahlia for the tips. 🙂 I really love Nan I am addicted!

Anyway back to the box. It totaled out at 187 dollars plus stickers so lets call them 3 dollars so its an even $190. I paid $44.98 with my $5.00 coupon. Total value is $145.02. It is a bargain and everything I got was new to me!  I’d of preferred more nail polish as opposed to beauty products. Also I feel like the theme is just silly. To me the ZigZag theme should include more than a small sheet of Chevron stickers. Maybe some cool tools for applying chevrons, maybe a plate with chevrons and a stamp. More than just the one item. I know they only advertised the ZigZag stickers but I just feel like you can’t make that the theme with only one item. Also many people with earlier ship dates didn’t even get their chevron’s in their box. Really? It seems awfully forgetful when that was the selling point.  It seems they had a lot of overstock so they pulled together this box to get rid of some of their items. Which is fine, but make the items at least fall-like. I do like these mystery boxes though (especially because I am a new julep member). I am sure once I have been with them awhile i will stop doing these because I will probably get lots of dupes. & it would be nice if it really was themed.
